Presenter: Dr. Tanner Wilson (mentors: Drs. Gilles Clermont, Harry Hochheiser)
As machine learning (ML) continues to develop as a field of scientific inquiry, the applications for clinical research continue to grow. In this talk, Dr. Wilson will introduce a number of developing collaborative projects between surgical residents that apply new ML techniques to traditional survival analysis for the prediction of outcomes in various malignancies. In particular, he will demonstrate how insights from ML help us understand the role of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in the prediction of survival from hepatocellular carcinoma.
