Small is the New BIG: The Role of Vasa Vasorum in Human Aneurysmal Disease

Date

May 20, 2021 - 8:30am

Event Description

Presenter: Julie Phillippi, PhD

Dr. Phillippi's research team is focused on the study of microvascular function in cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases with a particular interest in how the extracellular matrix regulates vasa vasorum-associated cells. Her experimental approaches include a combination of tissue engineered in vitro models and leverages a large and prospectively collected human tissue and cell bank derived from surgically obtained specimens of aortic and pulmonary pathologies. Her lab's research is currently supported by the NIH and the Commonwealth of PA. She will be speaking about the role of vasa vasorum in human aortic pathology.
