Congratulations to Principal Investigators (PIs) Bryan W. Tillman, MD, PhD and Young Jae Chun, PhD (Assistant Professor, Department of Industrial Engineering, Swanson School of Engineering) who were awarded a R01 grant from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering for their project “An Organ Perfusion Stent as an Alternative to Surgery in Donor Organ Recovery” for the period of September 15, 2017 through August 31, 2021. To address the critical shortage of donor organs, the PIs will investigate a novel device that will maintain blood flow and prevent injury to potentially lifesaving organs while respecting core ethical principles of consented organ donors.
