Congratulations to Steven Evans, MD, who was selected as a winner of UPMC’s Award for Commitment and Excellence in Service (ACES) for fiscal year 2020. ACES recipients are recognized for being outstanding UPMC team members who embody the health system’s core values, exhibit excellence in and dedication to their work, and go above and beyond to serve our patients and communities. Each year, fewer than one percent of UPMC staff from across the health system receive this honor.
Dr. Evans was nominated in recognition of the countless commuinity outreach events he served in over the past year, which include the Pittsburgh Black Nurses Action Health Fair, the Breast Cancer Town Hall Cancer Survivor Event, and UPMC Community Day in McKeesport. He was also integral in the creation of the UPMC McKeesport mammogram communications plan. Dr. Evans presented a keynote address in January 2020 addressing the disproportionate prevalence of mental health illness in African American Patients. He also routinely raises funds for the American Cancer Society in the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign.
