This notice informs the extramural community that the NIH will implement Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support for all applications and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs) by May 25, 2025.
The Common Forms are a joint initiative by federal research agencies to standardize disclosure requirements as specified in the National Security Presidential Memorandum - 33. The approved Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support (OMB Number 3145-0279, managed by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF)), are available on NSF’s website under the NSTC Research Security Subcommittee NSPM-33 Implementation Guidance Disclosure Requirements & Standardization.
The NIH will adopt the Common Forms without altering any collection fields. However, in line with NIH’s Peer Review Regulations (42 CFR Part 52h), NIH will continue to collect three specific data elements (Personal Statement, Contributions to Science, and Honors) to evaluate qualifications. These elements will be gathered separately using a new NIH Biographical Sketch Supplement.
