Congratulations to Matthew D. Neal, MD, FACS, who was selected as an inaugural University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences Ascending Star awardee. This newly established award was created to recognize highly productive, creative mid-career faculty members in the University’s six Schools of the Health Sciences whose career trajectories continue to offer great promise, and to encourage them to continue that upward momentum while serving as role models and mentors to their junior colleagues. The award will be accompanied by $25,000 in research support, and Dr. Neal will be invited to give a widely publicized lecture later this calendar year.
Dr. Neal was among the first group of faculty members chosen to receive this award from among more than 20 outstanding nominees.
