Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Hall, MD, for being awarded with the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to clinician investigators, Under Secretary of Health’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Health Services Research. Dr. Hall, a general surgeon with extensive training in health services research and quality improvement, focuses on creating effective healthcare delivery systems that prioritize patient well-being. He earned his BA from Yale College, an MDiv from Yale Divinity School, and both an MD and MHSc from Duke University, followed by a general surgery residency at UPMC. His research interests include surgical frailty, long-term loss of independence post-surgery, and shared decision-making in healthcare. He leads several significant research grants aimed at improving surgical outcomes and decision-making processes for frail patients, utilizing innovative methodologies such as statistical modeling and interdisciplinary care approaches.
