Dr. Matthew D. Neal Co-Leads Study Advancing Portable Artificial Platelets

Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh, Case Western Reserve University, and Haima Therapeutics have demonstrated that artificial platelets can be freeze-dried while maintaining stability and effectiveness for at least one year at room temperature and up to two months in high-heat conditions. This durability makes them suitable for use in emergency settings, including accident scenes and military environments. The study was co-led by Dr. Matthew D. Neal of the School of Medicine and published in Advanced Science.
