Why I Chose the University of Pittsburgh
Several reasons! First, Pitt is a program with a phenomenal academic reputation and a true commitment to resident academic productivity. From discussions with the residents on interview day, I also knew that UPMC would be a place where I would receive excellent clinical training and operate enough to develop the technical skills and operative judgement I would need coming out of residency. I loved the fact that there were many clinical training sites, as I wanted to learn to be versatile in my future practice. Finally, I was extremely impressed by how close-knit and collegial the department was, and wanted to train at a program with a strong community dynamic.
Non-Academic Accomplishments
I worked as a paramedic for several years in Durham, NC and used to foster dogs for a while in medical school. In my spare time, you can probably find me running in Schenley Park, reading short stories, or trying to add new dishes to my cooking repertoire. Oh, and Netflix. Lots of Netflix.
