Investigating Immune Defects of Aging and Potential Therapies

Date

July 20, 2021 - 9:00am

Event Description

Presenter: Maryam Mohammed (advisor: Dr. Brian Zuckerbraun)

Dr. Mohammed's group  previously demonstrated salutary effects of metformin on immune function in a mouse model of aging and is working to elucidate the metabolic pathways by which it exerts these effects. Dr. Mohammed will discuss their ongoing work pertaining to this project. She will also outline a new project investigating changes in NAD+ metabolism with aging. The group hopes to study the effect of supplementing intermediates from this pathway on the level of NAD+ and on immunometabolic changes of aging.
