Two of our most legendary faculty members, Bernard Fisher, MD and Thomas E. Starzl, MD, PhD, were honored as two of only five University of Pittsburgh faculty members featured in an interactive display on the 5th floor of Scaife Hall, the home of Pitt’s School of Medicine.
The new installation, one of many exciting enhancements made as part of Scaife Hall’s ongoing renovations, includes a large overhead display screen that scrolls through photos and information about each of the five honored scientists’ greatest accomplishments. It also includes walk-up kiosks with interactive touch-screen monitors where people can learn more about each scientist’s monumental contributions to medicine.
The display broadcasts Drs. Fisher’s and Starzl’s many career highlights. Dr. Fisher is recognized as a pioneer in the biology and treatment of breast cancer and Dr. Starzl is known as the “Father of Transplantation” for his role in pioneering and advancing the field of organ transplantation.
