Faculty Participate in “Alive & Well Series” Virtual Events

Two of our faculty members are participants in UPMC’s Alive & Well Series, an ongoing course of free, virtual discussions where attendees can learn about a variety of health and wellness topics from UPMC experts.

On Friday, March 18, Steven Evans, MD, participated in the “Take Control of Your Health” virtual event, “Bridging Health Inequities with Cancer Screenings.” Forty attendees learned from Dr. Evans about the critical role that health screenings play in the early detection and treatment of breast, lung, and colon cancer. Dr. Evan’s talk was very well received, with participants providing positive feedback and requesting 21 colorectal home screening FIT kits after the lecture. A recording of Dr. Evans’ lecture can be viewed online.

On Friday, April 8th,  Michael Cowher, MD, will discuss breast biopsies, precancerous conditions, lumpectomies, and lymph node considerations, as well as the latest in breast cancer treatments and options in the Alive & Well Series event, “Your Breast Cancer Journey.”
