Inflammatory bowel disease is currently perceived as a chronic, relapsing idiopathic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract with a multfactorial pathogenesis. Our lab is beginning to elucidate the role the epithelial cell, rather than immune cell, plays in initiating and propagating this spectrum of diseases.

And yet, little if any determination was made a priori of how to record or use these data so as to improve health and disease. Dr. Rieser will highlight the profound improvements in patient care and facilitation of decision-making that can be yielded when we learn how to use this wealth of data.
